Firstly, there is no such thing as the best credit card in Malaysia. To determine the best credit card for yourself, you have to chose the right credit card that you can benefit most out of it.
I have published a series of articles on the different categories of credit cards in Malaysia recently. Basically, the categories are based on income requirement to be eligible for a certain credit card.
The first category is Entry Level Credit Cardswhere the income requirement is RM30K/year or less. You’ll be surprised that some of the cards here offer better cash back for petrol than higher level credit cards where most don’t even reward you anything for pumping petrol. If you are earning between RM30K to RM60K per year, I recommend that you apply for the Maybankard 2 Gold Cards where the Maybankard 2 AMEX card earns you 5X Treats Points and additional 5% cash back on weekends.
The second category is Platinum Credit Cards where nowadays you only need to earn RM36K/year to be eligible for one. Some Platinum credit cards do offer free access to KLIA Plaza Premium Lounge where you can have FREE drinks and food. Once again, I recommend to all the Maybankard 2 Platinum Cards where the Maybankard 2 American Express earns the cardholder 5X Treats Points and additional 5% cash back on Saturdays and Sundays but capped at RM50/month.
The final article on my series of different categories of credit cards is Premier Credit Cards where you need to earn above RM100K /year or have RM200K and above AUM with the banks. The Premier credit cards benefits are much better than Platinum in general especially for those who travel frequently overseas.
Now, having a Premier Credit Card does not necessary means it will benefit you more than say compared to UOB One Card classic credit card, which I have categorized as an Entry Level Credit Card, if you pump petrol at BHP. From the above three article, I am sure you will be able to find the card that suits you best :)
I have also published several article relating to Best or Top Credit Cards:
