Those of us who chase after Fixed Deposit Promotions to earn more in interest will end up having many accounts with several banks. And the other benefit besides earning more FREE money is that we get the opportunity to obtain different designs of Chinese New Year red packets.
And with different designs, we can choose and pick the nicer ones to give to our younger generations. Also, many of us want different Chinese New Year Ang Pow designs so that we can differentiate the value/amount inserted into them.
For years, I would have at least 5 different stacks of Ang Baos with different amounts in my sling bag during the Chinese New Year period. And I will distribute them not only to my relatives but those who I don’t even know, that is only if they wish me Gong Xi Fa Cai or say Happy New Year to me.
There are a few restaurants in PJ which I frequent, and every year I would give Ang Pows to the security guards and valet parking boys. I tell you, they remember me and I get “special” attention throughout the year. For example, the guard(s) will wish me whenever I go there for dinner (and hold the lift for my entourage in a particular restaurant) and my car is always parked right in front for me to drive off immediately after dinner. By sharing my wealth once a year, I am blessed with good service throughout the year!
Anyway, I have posted some Chinese New Year 2014 red packets ( Ang Pow ) at my main blog which includes those from Alliance Privilege Banking, Citibank Citigold, Hong Leong Bank Priority Banking, OCBC Premier Banking, RHB Premier Banking and UOB Privilege Banking. Now, all these Premier, Priority and Privilege Banking I just mentioned, I’m not penalized a sen even if my AUM falls to just RM1 unlike HSBC and Standard Chartered Bank. And best of all, the amount I have deposited with most of them is well below the required AUM but they are still more than happy to give me their Chinese New Year Red Packets
